Your wheels no longer come clean
When ordinary shampoo achieves nothing, the brake dust is already sitting in the surface. That is a chemical process, not a scrubbing job.

Dissolving brake dust without acid and without attacking the surface — and saying honestly where cleaning ends and refurbishment begins.
Wheel cleaning removes embedded brake dust, road grime and tar. Brake dust contains metal and is pressed into the surface by the heat of the braking system, where it continues to oxidise. Work is carried out on cooled wheels, with acid-free products and dedicated brushes. Which product is used is decided by the type of wheel — chrome and polished aluminium do not tolerate acid.

Exactly the types that the wrong cleaner leaves permanently dull or stained. That damage cannot be washed away.
The only moment at which the back of the wheel and the barrel are accessible too — and that is where most of the brake dust sits.
5 work steps, in order
About half an hour after driving. Applied to hot wheels, any cleaner dries on and leaves marks.
Loose dirt off before any chemistry comes into play. Otherwise the cleaner works on the grime instead of the brake dust.
Iron-dissolving products turn purple while they react — you can see where something is happening. They must never be allowed to dry on.
Spokes, barrel and valve area with dedicated brushes — which never go near the paint. Tyre sidewall and wheel arch are separate steps.
Residue in gaps and behind the spokes is the reason for marks after drying.

What has corroded into the surface cannot be removed by any cleaner. If the brake dust has already penetrated the clear coat of the wheel, that is a wheel refurbishment or a respray, not a cleaning job. We check this beforehand and tell you before the work starts. With polished aluminium we always test on an inconspicuous spot before working on a large area.
Cleaning the outer face of the wheels is included in every package. A wheel coating can be booked as an add-on.
On painted and powder-coated wheels it would be unnecessary; on chrome, polished and diamond-cut aluminium it causes permanent damage — the surface goes dull or stained and cannot be brought back. That is why we work acid-free as a matter of principle.
Brake discs get very hot in use. The metal-containing particles hit the wheel while hot and are pressed into the uppermost layers, where they continue to oxidise. That is why scrubbing does not help — it takes a product that dissolves the iron compound chemically.
Depending on the product, a few months up to about a year; ceramic versions longer. Wheels are under harsher stress than the paintwork — heat, brake dust and road salt. We state the range conservatively because independently verified figures are not available.
With the wheels removed, yes, and that is where it pays off most. With the wheels mounted we can only reach the barrel to a limited extent. If a wheel change is due anyway, let us know — then we combine the appointments.
